Kiwicaching is fortunate to be hosting Julia Dimon, aka The Travel Junkie , on Saturday 10th November 2007 for a day of Geocaching, on behalf of all Kiwi Cachers.
Julia, along with her team and associates, specialises in traveling on a budget and writing about it. Two years ago, she returned to Canada after a year travelling the world on a CA$6,000 airfare budget and some of her interviews are hosted here . But is she a cacher? No (not yet, anyway). However, she is coming to New Zealand and geocaching is on the list! A Canadian Travel Television show called Word Travels is organising the trip and a request was made to New Zealand Cachers for assistance. Fortunately we had a day off cache hunting that day , so GenCuster, Xmuggle and another local cacher, Cach Hunter1 will be hosting Julia (Host), Mary (Director), Zach (Sound), Sean (DOP) and Chris (Assistant). We will be signing Julia up with a geocaching account, showing her how to use a GPS and find caches online then letting the team loose around the lakes, native bush and thermal areas of Rotorua for the day. With luck, Julia will be able to plant a cache herself, obtain some scenic footage and Geocaching as a sport will be promoted in Canada, as will the New Zealand Geocaching organisations - Kiwicaching and the New Zealand Recreational GPS Society.
